Smurve80

Smurve combines “Smile” and “Curve.” Its gentle arc resembles a subtle smile, expressing warmth and approachability.

Designed to delight through comfort and familiarity—not novelty—Smurve aims to make typing feel natural and satisfying from the first keystroke. This philosophy carries into the logo, where the curved line echoes both the keyboard’s shape and the smile it’s meant to create.

Inspired by the IBM Model M, it’s a modern reinterpretation—not a replica—combining retro curves, ergonomic comfort, and modern usability. A built-in solenoid adds a distinctive, typewriter-like sound and character beyond conventional flat keyboards.

Genuine Curved Comfort

Smurve80’s curve is not merely a visual element—it defines the entire typing experience.

The sculpted surface follows a gentle arc that naturally aligns with the hands, helping reduce strain during long typing sessions.

It is a curve you recognize instinctively, much like a smile—subtle, but immediately felt.

Solenoid Module

Smurve80 features a built-in solenoid typewriter-like sound module, adding an extra layer of retro character and tactile feedback—bringing rhythm and personality into every keystroke.

Structure

Due to the curved design, the internal volume of Smurve80 naturally contains more open cavities than a typical flat keyboard. To maintain a controlled and solid sound profile, commonly used internal dampening materials are applied where appropriate.

However, the goal is not to homogenize the sound into a uniform, muted profile often associated with heavily damped boards. Instead, Smurve80 is tuned to retain its own acoustic character—allowing the structure and curvature to shape a sound that is distinct, balanced, and specific to the design.
